The Extinction of the Conventional Simulator in Radiotherapy
The word Ximatron sounds a little like a modern-day Cyber Robot. But in reality, it’s become more of a Cyber Dinosaur.
Conventional simulators like the Varian Ximatron, Varian Acuity, and Elekta (Nucletron) Simulix, have largely been replaced by CT Scanners in the U.S. These conventional simulators are used to image the cancer patient and to simulate radiation therapy treatment prior to the actual treatment delivery on the linear accelerator. However, CT Scanners offer better image quality, more versatility and flexibility. These advantages often lead to an overall cost advantage.
If your facility has an older conventional simulator they would like removed, or would like to upgrade it to a CT Simulator, please reach out to us or e-mail info@ros.us.
