Recent Project: Power Conditioner Installation

Purchasing, owning, and operating a linear accelerator  is no easy task both financially and logistically. Often times, buying a linear accelerator also means buying accessories that can add up to a sticker-shock inducing number. Accessories, though, are indispensable and can make a huge impact on how much of an effect a linear accelerator has on improving patient care. One such accessory is the power conditioner.

Power Conditioner Installation

Power conditioners are commonly used pieces of equipment in a variety of fields that require large amounts of electrical input. In layman’s terms, they facilitate clean, stable energy from the power source to the machinery, which protects the device from damage done by power failures and voltage fluctuations. For medical facilities using equipment like linear accelerators, which require huge amounts of energy to run, having a power conditioner can make the difference in the longevity and effectiveness of the device itself (if a linear accelerator is in need of repairs due to damages, that significantly impacts the number of patients that can be treated by it).The one issue is that power conditioners, just like the linear accelerators, are expensive.

So, is it possible to acquire important accessories like power conditioners to protect your medical equipment without breaking the bank?

It absolutely is.

ROS recently provided a client-site with a pre-owned power conditioner, saving the facility around $15,000 in doing so. The device was already in our warehouse, waiting for its future home, and our team took care of its move from there to the facility’s utilities room. By taking care of the logistics of moving the 1800lb power conditioner, we ensured that it would be handled properly and arrive in good condition, all in a timely fashion.

We’re proud to have been able to save this facility time and money in this project, and we know that with their medical equipment protected, they can focus on saving lives–not repairing damages.

Tommy is a Director of Project Management at ROS. He helps clinics and hospitals source and install the optimal equipment for their needs. Tommy works primarily on radiation oncology equipment projects including linear accelerators, superficials, radiotherapy systems, parts and accessories.
